Those Who Ignore History Are Condemned To Repeat It

This article, very slightly revised by me, was written by Paul E. Marek. Mr. Marek is a second-generation Canadian, whose grandparents fled Czechoslovakia just prior to the Nazi takeover.

A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates.  When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

"Very few people were true Nazis," he  said, "but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care.  I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools.  So,
the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come.   My family lost everything.  I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allied bombers destroyed my factories."

We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is a religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace.  Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.

It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide.  It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave.  It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder or honor-kill.  It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque.

It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals.  It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers. The hard quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the 'silent majority', is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people.   The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists
managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a war mongering sadist.  Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic
murder of 12 million Chinese civilians, most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

And who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'? Yet hundreds of thousands of minority Tutsis were brutally killed by a small number of their neighbors, the Hutus.

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because, like the German this piece begins with, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs,Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians and many others have died because the  peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.

As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts: the fanatics who threaten our way of life. We listen to those who would minimize the threat at our own peril.

KSM to get a "fair trial"

So why did Obama and Eric Holder decide to bring Khalid Sheikh Muhammad to trial in Federal court, like a Mafia gangster or a corrupt union official, rather than the terrorist he is? Let's keep in mind Obama and Holder also decided today that the Muslims who attacked the U.S.S. Cole in 2000 will be tried in military tribunals, where they won't have the same access to our civilain rules of law and prosecution that KSM will now have. Why the difference? Why won't they both be tried by the military? After all, KSM was captured on the battlefield, not in the U.S.

I'll tell you why I think they decided the way they did. They know that KSM's confessions, probably the strongest evidence we have, will be thrown out once his lawyers start bringing up the fact that he was waterboarded. And once they start demanding that we release all sorts of secret information, which he'll be entitled to in a civilian proceeding, but wouldn't be in a military tribunal, our intelligence capabilities will be severely degraded. And he'll be set free, to the delight of fanatic Islamists around the world.

And guess who'll be blamed? You got it- George W. Bush. Obama will go around spewing garbage about how his predecessor made it impossible for him to convict Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, and made us less safe than we would have been if only John Kerry had been elected in 2004.

This is politics, pure and simple. Obama realizes he's not up to the task of running this country, and he knows everyone's catching on to it, and the only thing he can do is what he did to get elected- whine about "the last eight years" and how the last guy screwed everything up.

One final note, a bit off the point. Check out the unemployment figures for the last nine years. They were 5% or slightly less right up until late 2006, six years into Bush's presidency, when they started to rise, till today they're over 10%. Remember what happened in late 2006? You got it again- the Democrat party took control of Congress. Six years of Republican control, 5% unemployment. In two years the Dems took control, elected a far-left "community organizer" as president, and added more to the national debt than all the administrations in over 200 years combined (and did that in one year!).

And they wonder why people are pissed off.

The Parking Ticket

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their
days interesting.
Well, for example, the other day my wife and I went into town and went
into a shop.

We were only in there for about 5 minutes.

When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking
ticket.

We went up to him and said, 'Come on man, how about giving a senior
citizen a break?'

He ignored us and continued writing the ticket.

I called him a Nazi turd.

He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn
tires.

So my wife called him a shit-head.

He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the
first.

Then he started writing a third ticket.

This went on for about 20 minutes.

The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote.
Personally, we didn't care.

We came into town by bus and the car had an Obama sticker on
it.

We try to have a little fun each day now that we're retired.

It's important at our age.

Bill & Barack- No-Class Acts

You know what I'm getting really sick of? Foul-mouthed scumbags like that ugly, completely unfunny, no-talent loser Janeane Garofalo and a bunch of other left-wing "entertainers" (who are really just Obama's court jesters without the silly hats) going around calling limited-government activists across the country "tea-baggers".  The Boston Tea Party, which many of the groups (including the one I'm involved with in Ft. Walton Beach, FL) take their names from, was one of the seminal events of the American Revolution. It was an act of defiance against an oppressive, out of control English king and his murderous army. The Americans who threw that party were true heroes. Tea-bagging is a particular sexual practice favored by gay men, though not limited to them. Look it up, unless you're squeamish about that sort of stuff. All that needs to be said is that there's nothing heroic or particularly sanitary about it. I suppose Ms. Garofalo and her ilk think it's really clever to link it to a bunch of people they hate, probably because those people are showing defiance toward our oppressive, out of control President.

But now Bill Clinton, a sexual class act if ever there was one, says, in a closed-door meeting with a bunch of Democrats, "The reason the tea-baggers are so inflamed is because we are winning." Nice, Bill. Did you kiss your mother (the town gang bang in Hope, Arkansas) with that mouth?

Not to be outdone by our former pervert-in-chief, Barack Obama says this- "Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support [Democrats who vote against the health care bill] if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit [Democrat voters] and it will encourage the extremists." You go, Barry- I wonder if your mom ever teabagged any of the guys she shacked up with while she was dragging you around to shitholes like Kenya and Indonesia, before she decided you were a drag and dumped you with your white grandparents in Kansas. They must have been real proud of her.

Now it's one thing for a bunch of shallow, useless, inconsequential clowns to talk this way. No one expects much from them anyway. But when an ex-President and a sitting President adopt their language, it's not just the man that's diminished; it's the office, too. Not that Bill Clinton's reputation could be damaged much more than it was while he was in the Oval Office showing Monica Lewinsky how to trim a cigar. But, naive as I am sometimes, I honestly thought Obama had more class than that.

I'm glad he showed himself for what he is- now I can stop fooling myself and just call a spade a spade, huh?

Veteran's Day

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

- Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)
